Major Highlights of the Week

Login Failures
Users experience persistent login issues, with the app either failing to load the login screen or getting stuck in a reload loop, rendering it unusable. This critical access problem is exacerbated by ineffective support links.
Tracking Inaccuracies
The app's tracking feature is unreliable, often failing to record skiing activities accurately or resetting stats in low coverage areas. This undermines the app's core functionality of tracking user performance.
Stats reset to older data when reopening the app in areas with poor internet coverage.
Excessive Notifications
Users are frustrated by the app's frequent and irrelevant push notifications, including ads for passes they already own. This indicates a lack of communication between engineering and marketing teams.
Receiving push notification ads for a pass already purchased through the app.
Battery Drain
Continuous GPS tracking significantly drains battery life, especially when the app fails to track activities accurately, forcing users to rely on backup batteries. This inefficiency diminishes user experience during long ski days.
The app's tracking failures require a backup battery to maintain functionality throughout the day.
Feature Discrepancies
Users are disappointed by the absence of features available in competitor apps, such as automatic stat tracking and comprehensive map overlays. This gap highlights missed opportunities for feature parity.
Unlike Epic Pass, the app lacks automatic stat tracking tied to the pass.
Statistical Errors
The app frequently displays inaccurate or zeroed-out season stats, causing confusion and dissatisfaction among users who rely on these metrics. This issue questions the reliability of the app's data handling.
Season stats show zero despite multiple recorded ski days.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

App downloaded and when I try to login, it pulls up a pop up with the main site but then it reloads over and over again endlessly, never giving me the option to login. Tried to go through support but that link goes to a blank blue page within the ikon website. What a joke for paying over $1000 a year.

The app doesn’t provide conditions in Europe. The two areas I’ve been watching look like they are closed, No trails and no lifts open, even when other sources show them in operation. If the IKON app wants to be the one source for this info, serve their customers, and support the European resorts on the pass, then they have failed.

The app is useful ONLY for looking at your stats and checking SOME resorts’ trail status etc. but if you’re checking multiple resorts to compare, good chance several either won’t be updated or won’t be available, so I end up looking up directly with the resort or open snow. The potential is there - the execution, however, is not.
