The ads are so frequent and repetitive that it makes me not want to watch anymore.

Major Highlights of the Week

Ad Overload
Excessive and repetitive ads disrupt viewing, with some users experiencing up to seven ads per break, leading to frustration and decreased engagement. This ad saturation is perceived as a push towards premium subscriptions.
The ads are unbearable, with up to seven ads per break, making it hard to enjoy the shows.
Dub Availability
There is a significant lack of dubbed content, particularly for older anime, which is available on other platforms. This gap in language options limits accessibility and user satisfaction.
It's frustrating that older anime lacks Spanish dubs, unlike other platforms.
Subtitle Issues
The removal of accurate Japanese subtitles for English audio has led to mismatched and incorrect closed captions, affecting accessibility and user experience. This change is particularly problematic for the hard of hearing.
English CC is inaccurate, changing 'chanting' to 'changing' and 'Assiah' to 'Asia'.
Content Delays
Users experience delays in the release of new episodes and translations, impacting the perceived value of the service. The lack of a schedule feature exacerbates this issue, leaving users uninformed about release timings.
Episodes are delayed without notice, and there's no schedule to check release times.
Security Concerns
The absence of multi-factor authentication (MFA) raises concerns about account security, suggesting outdated security practices. Users expect modern security measures to protect their accounts.
Lack of MFA is concerning; it feels like passwords are stored insecurely.
Platform Compatibility
The app lacks support for certain device features, such as AirPods' start and pause on Samsung TVs, and experiences issues with SharePlay syncing. These compatibility gaps hinder seamless user experiences across devices.
AirPods' start/pause feature isn't supported on Samsung TVs, affecting usability.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

The app has a great selection of anime but the ads are unbearable to watch. I get that they want you to get premium but it makes me very upset they give us over 5 minutes of ads and barely any access to the shows to tempt us.

I had a big long review about multiple issues typed out but I think there’s one gigantic elephant in the room worth mentioning alone that warrants this review rating: Removing the option to utilize English subtitles used in the Japanese audio from English audio. We’re now forced to use English Closed Captioning for English audio, which is consistently mismatched in timing and spells words based on how they sound rather than what they actually are.

I wish they support AirPods start and pause feature from Samsung TVs. Also most series stop dubbing at the last episode.
