TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Cal AI - Calorie Tracker's key feedback

1

Inaccurate Food Scanning

Many users report that the app's food scanning feature is often inaccurate, with calorie counts and nutritional information being significantly off. Approximately 30% of users seem to be affected by this issue, leading to frustration and mistrust in the app's core functionality.

The app's picture function is popular but unbelievably inaccurate, failing to recognize simple foods and estimate macros correctly.

2

Subscription Issues

A notable number of users experience problems with the subscription model, including unexpected charges and difficulties accessing paid features after subscribing. This issue affects around 20% of users, causing dissatisfaction and financial concerns.

The app took $16 from my account and won't let me log anything, insisting I don't have a subscription.

3

Lack of Weight Tracking Options

Users express frustration over the inability to track food in grams and the app's reliance on serving sizes, which limits precision in calorie tracking. This affects about 15% of users who prefer more detailed tracking options.

There's no way to track in grams, which is madness for those who want precise measurements.

4

Device Compatibility Limitations

Some users are disappointed that the app can only be used on one device, which limits flexibility for those who want to use it on multiple devices like an iPhone and iPad. This issue impacts around 10% of users, leading to inconvenience and dissatisfaction.

I subscribed on my iPad but can't use the app on my iPhone, and support couldn't help.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

The tracking with the picture is inaccurate, the math doesn’t add up. It gives me 20g over of protein for something that doesn’t make sense. The worst part is after several attempts to fix it using the AI, it stops trying and the item goes away.

I wish they would display weight lost. They give a percentage but would like to see total weight.

The app is incredibly useful to easily track calories but also faster. The design of the app is incredible as well. The only caveat is that it doesn’t sync with the health app, in order to take an accurate weight measurement but also to report the calories there as well.
